Born Douglas Allen Ford on August 21, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the third son of Edward and Julia (Huff) Ford.  Joined the US Air Force on November 15, 9170.  Married Sandra Kay Martin after dating for four years on May 29, 1971.  They spent the first two years at Ramey Air Force Base, Puerto Rico, where they joined the riding club and fell in love with the Paso Fino Horse.  When they left Puerto Rico they brought two horses back to Oklahoma.  Although they started breeding and training their own horses they soon were training for a living and then started a small tack venture.  The tack business grew to be to largest Paso Fino tack provider in the US.

Doug fathered two children, Rebecca Diane Ford, born April 26, 1979, and Cody Allen Ford, born September 26, 1984.
